What it is
Hijama is the therapy the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) described as containing a cure, and it remains the heart of Ruby's practice. After dry cupping prepares the area, tiny superficial incisions are made and the cup is re-applied so that a small amount of stagnant blood can leave the body.
Ruby's approach is entirely modern in its safety: sterile, single-use surgical blades and cups, a hand pump rather than fire, gloves, disinfectant protocols and proper sharps disposal — all set out and cleared away in your own home, so you never have to travel.
- Duration
- 60–90 minutes
- Sensation
- Light scratches, like a cat's brush — most clients are surprised how gentle it is.
- Afterwards
- Circular marks fade over 7–10 days; incision points heal within a few days.
Why women choose it
Most often sought for these concerns
Removes stagnant blood
Hijama draws out blood that has pooled and thickened in tired tissue, allowing fresh, oxygenated blood to take its place.
Eases chronic pain
Many clients seek Hijama for long-standing back, neck, knee and headache pain that hasn't responded to other approaches.
Supports the immune system
Cupping is understood to stimulate the body's own defences and cleansing processes.
A spiritual & emotional reset
For Muslim clients, Hijama is an act of Sunnah — bringing peace and connection alongside its physical benefits.
How a session unfolds
Five calm steps, in your own home
Ruby sets up in around ten minutes and tidies everything away afterwards — you simply rest.

- 01
Consultation & consent
Ruby reviews your health history, medications and goals, explains the procedure and takes your written consent.
- 02
Preparation
The area is cleansed and dry cupping is applied for a few minutes to bring blood to the surface.
- 03
Incisions
Cups are removed and a series of very shallow, superficial scratches are made with a sterile single-use blade.
- 04
Second suction
Cups are re-applied and a small, controlled amount of blood is drawn into the cup while you rest.
- 05
Cleanse, dress & aftercare
The area is cleaned, sterile dressings are applied where needed, and all sharps and waste are sealed in a clinical sharps container.
Tradition, honoured
Sunnah points & Sunnah days
Hijama follows the traditional points described in the Sunnah, and many clients choose to book on the recommended days of the Islamic month.
- Sunnah days — the 17th, 19th and 21st of the lunar month
- Common points — al-kāhil (between the shoulders), al-akhda'ayn (sides of the neck) and the crown
- Ruby guides you to the points most relevant to your concerns
- Not exclusive to Muslim clients — everyone is welcome

Questions about this therapy
Wet Cupping · Hijama, answered
