What it is
Dry cupping is the foundation of every cupping tradition. Rather than pressing into tight muscle the way massage does, the cup lifts — drawing skin, fascia and the muscle beneath gently upwards. That lift creates space: fresh blood flows into an area that has been tight and starved, and the nervous system is given a clear signal to let go.
Ruby uses medical-grade plastic cups with a hand pump, so the suction is precise, adjustable and comfortable. Cups are usually left in place for five to fifteen minutes while you rest — many clients describe a deep, heavy calm that lasts long after the cups are removed.
- Duration
- 45–60 minutes
- Sensation
- A firm, warm pull that eases into heaviness and calm.
- Afterwards
- Circular marks are common and painless, fading within 3–10 days.
Why women choose it
Most often sought for these concerns
Relieves muscular pain
Suction decompresses tight tissue and increases local blood flow, helping stubborn knots soften.
Calms inflammation
Improved circulation helps the body clear the by-products of inflammation from tired, overworked muscles.
Restores range of movement
By lifting fascia — the connective tissue that binds muscle — dry cupping often frees movement that felt 'stuck'.
Deeply relaxing
The body's 'rest and restore' response is switched on, lowering stress and improving sleep for many clients.
How a session unfolds
Five calm steps, in your own home
Ruby sets up in around ten minutes and tidies everything away afterwards — you simply rest.

- 01
Consultation
Ruby listens to what you're experiencing, checks your health history and agrees the areas to treat.
- 02
Comfort & positioning
You'll be positioned on a massage bed or your own bed, covered with fresh towels so only the treatment area is exposed.
- 03
Cup placement
Cups are placed and suction is built gradually with a hand pump until the pull feels firm but comfortable.
- 04
Rest
Cups remain for 5–15 minutes while you rest. Ruby monitors the skin throughout and eases anything that feels too strong.
- 05
Release & aftercare
Cups are released gently, the area is soothed and you'll receive simple aftercare guidance before Ruby tidies away.
Good to know
Understanding the marks
The circles left after a cup are not bruises. They show where stagnant blood and metabolic waste were drawn to the surface — and how much the area needed it.
- Light pink — healthy circulation, minimal stagnation
- Deep red or plum — long-held tension; usually fades within a week
- Marks are painless, the skin is unbroken and no special care is needed
- Marks tend to lighten with each session as circulation improves

Questions about this therapy
Dry Cupping, answered
No. You'll feel a firm pull as the suction builds, which quickly settles into a warm heaviness. Ruby adjusts every cup to your comfort — you are always in control.
